Eragon - Christopher Paolini

Bound by Books selected Eragon by Christopher Paolini as the novel for our February 2012 meeting. Eragon is the first novel in a four book young adult fantasy series. The story introduces us to Eragon, a teenager who discovers a dragon egg. The egg hatches and Eragon and his dragon Saphira are launched onto an adventure. The novel itself is an easy read and the story is fairly simple, but a little predictable; definitely a good book for young adults or readers who are new to the fantasy genre. The main characters are developed quite well with the dragon Saphira being the favourite character by all members of the club (Eragon’s mentor Brom gets an honourable mention). The author was a teenager when he wrote the novel, which really impressed all members of the club. Most members have said that they will read the next book in the series.

The March 2012 book we will be reviewing is Queen Bees & Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman.
